Abstract

In the era of Accuracy and Precision, Cylindrical grinding plays an important role and in order to achieve it surface roughness is an essential parameter. The current case study is carried out in multinational company manufacturing bearings. Surface roughness being an important process parameter, a study was conducted to find the parameters which affect surface roughness. The relationship between various parameters will help in identifying the values of these parameters. The paper aims at deriving empirical relationship between Dressing In-feed speed (Vi), Dress speed diamond roller (Vd), Grinding wheel speed (Vs), Dressing depth (a), Work head spindle speed (Vw). The resulting work piece surface roughness model is then experimentally validated for different depth of cut, work piece speed, spindle speed, dressing In-feed speed, and dress speed diamond roller.

Abstract

Planning and balancing of assembly lines is a complex problem which is often very hard to solve with classical scheduling approaches. This paper demonstrates the concept of line balancing by using the Kilbridge and Westers method to balance the line and then evaluate the thus obtained solution using simulation techniques, before it is actually implemented on the line.

Abstract

In today's competitive world, it is extremely important to keep our customers satisfied to gain their loyalty. Measurement of customer satisfaction is a significant addition to the new ISO 9000:2000 standard, This helps to promote an increased focus on customer outcomes and stimulate improvements in the work practices and processes used within the company. This paper presents a multi-criteria approach, which assists in the customer satisfaction measurement. The proposed methodology based on Saaty's Analytical Hierarchy Process, rates pair wise the set of parameters, which contribute to the final goal of customer satisfaction.

Abstract

Although there are different methodologies available to design a layout namely cell formation, PFA with REL Chart, dependency matrix; it is difficult to apply these techniques universally. Each situation presents a typical problem where the existing technologies fail to give satisfactory results. In this paper an attempt has been made to design a mixed layout (partly cellular and partly straight-line). The layout is derived from dependency matrix and dependency network.
